chocolatechip-oatmeal-bannana-cookies-recipe

I have been buying a lot of bananas lately, and not eating them. So I have to bake with them. I decided to make these cookies that are like muffin tops. I have no idea where this recipe came from, as I have made them so many times I have the recipe memorized. They are banana oatmeal chocolate chip muffin top cookies. Don’t you just think the muffin top is the best part of any muffin?

Ingredients:

1 stick of butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons on cinnamon
1 teaspoon of nutmeg
2 eggs
2 cups of flour
3 bananas mashed
2 cups of oats
1 cup of miniature chocolate chips
1/8 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of baking soda

( I know that I probably didn’t organize the list of ingredients appropriately but its from memory so I’m sorry)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

1. Mix the butter and sugar together until creamed.
2. Mix all the dry ingredients together: Flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
3. Add the eggs to the butter and sugar.
4. Slowly add the flour mixture into the butter and sugar.
4. Add the mashed bananas.
5. Then add the oats.
6. Then add the chocolate chips.

Plop onto a cookie sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes. This recipe makes about 36 cookies if you put about two or three tablespoons of batter for each cookie.

People who love food, and love photography know about the Australian based magazine Donna Hay. Its my favorite food magazine, and in my opinion the very best. They have amazing images, and cleaner designs. If you are familiar with the magazine then the source of inspiration for these images is obvious. Photographer Chris Court does a beet story in the newest issue of Donna Hay that has a darker more edgier feel.

I shot on Thursday with the always amazing and uber talented prop stylist Emily Henderson and food stylist Jennifer Houst. I thought the shoot went fairly well and I think we got some pretty good images. Here are the results…

There was a MAJOR heat wave in Los Angeles over the last weekend. It was totally unbearable, and totally horrible. I had been waiting to use all these strawberries I bought from the market, and I really really desperately wanted a strawberry shortcake kind of thing. However, because of the heat, I was not willing to go through and make the actual cake part. I went over to the grocery store and bought some pre packaged pastry dough, popped it in the oven for 25 minutes, and ding, it was done. Then, I whipped up some cream, and blended some strawberries with some lime juice and Ta Da. Instant yumminess.

I shot again yesterday with the talented and amazing prop stylist Emily Henderson. We shot more still life, and a couple of food shots. Thank god we didn’t shoot today during 97 degree weather! Here are some of my favorite images we shot. Emily has such good ideas and props, it makes my job so easy!

You have a really bad sun burn, and you want to know where it lies within the gray scale. I would say my untanned skin is about a 6, and my sun burn is about a 9.

Today I made myself an amazing tuna melt. I was talking with a friend about my blog, and I told her is was Fish, like my last name, not Phish like the band, or the popular Ben and Jerry ice cream Phish Food. I then hot to tell her about this amazing experience I had with the Band Phish. Needless to say I was 16, and basically, a hippie. Minus the dreads, but add the great hippie music. They played in Boise, my hometown at the Boise State basketball stadium. I knew this place like the back of my hand from going to basketball games as a child. There are no professional teams in Idaho, so everyone is pretty much obsessed with college sports. Anyway, after an amazing first half on the concert, it was intermission. I had to go to the bathroom soooo bad. Knowing that the bathroom line nearest to everyones seats was going to be packed. I told my girlfriend that we should go around back, basically behind where the stage was set up to go. I knew this would be significantly less crowded because so one was sitting there. Let me clarify this, at basketball games, obviously the entire arena is filled, but during a concert, they only use about 3/4 of the stadium because the other fourth is filled with the stage. Anyway, we walked around and low and behold, there was no line. The place was empty, except for one person, a security guard. As we walked toward the bathroom, the security guard made a motion like to say, sorry ladies, this is a no go. At this point, we had been walking for a bit, my bladder was going to explode. I told him that if we didn’t get into the bathroom now, I was going to go on the floor, it was his choice. He moved aside, but told us to be quiet. I thought that was really odd, considering there was NO ONE around. I was more focused on relieving myself than trying to discern mysterious comments from the push over of a security guard. We walked into the door, which was a hallway with another door that lead to the bathroom, as well as some other door. I went to the bathroom , and then my girlfriend went to the bathroom. While she was in the bathroom, I went back the small hallway, and put my ear against the door. To this day, I have no idea why I felt compelled to do that. So I’m in the hallway with my ear pressed against the door and I hear is a bunch of ruckus. So I knock. The voice on the other side says, “Hello? Is this Doris?” I’m like “No! Who is this though?” Then the voice from the door responded, after a brief pause, “I don’t know.” Then I responded “I don’t know? How do you not know?” Then the voice on the other side of the door told me to go and wait outside. I was just thinking wtf is going on? Who is going to meet us on the other side? Are we in trouble for making noise? Please don’t let me get kicked out of the concert for knocking on a random door in the bathroom. So we go outside, and through these other doors comes out this really heavy lady with some kind of pass around her neck. She just said hi, and to follow her. So we did. We were lead through various halls, people were walking by,and then I realized where we were going. We were headed backstage, totheir break room. As we stood in the doorway, I was completely blown away. Here I am, a stupid 16 year old meeting Phish, through a
bathroom door. How random is that. So we get introduced to the band. I am sitting next to the elaborate shrimp tray talking to Trey Anastasio asking him how he likes Boise. Whoa. I was so not cool, hanging out
with people I totally idolized. So after some brief totally awkward conversation on my part, he asks me what songs I would like to hear. I told him I wanted to hear Peaches en Regalia. Phish has about a million songs they have written and cover, so people come to shows with signs asking them to play songs. For instance a sign might read “1,245 days singe Peaches en Regalia.” I knew this song had not been played in a while, so I thought it was a good choice. So my girlfriend and I danced like dirty hippies on the side of the stage. Later we went t the afterparty and hung out for a bit, then retired home with endless memories that I will take with forever. Ohhh Phish.

For your viewing pleasure I have found the video from the September 14th, 1999 performance of Peachs en Regalia in Boise. Oh how I love youtube.
